Somali PeninsulaThe Somali Peninsula is located in north east Africa. It spans hundreds of kilometers into the Arabian sea. The land itself covers about 770,000 square miles of space. In the peninsula, there is lowlands and highlands. It is actually hotter in the lowlands. The climate all around is sunny and dry. There is a rainy season for about five months out of the year. On the Somali Peninsula there is about 115 million people. The culture of the people is very different from each other's. Many different values and religions all live in the same area.

Water WaysLake ChadLake Chad is a historically large lake. Although, it is a pretty shallow lake. It is only about ten and a half meters at the deepest point in the lake. Lake Chad covers about five hundred and twenty one square miles. The muddy banks of Lake Chad are starting to show more than they used to. The water in the lake has been drastically disappearing over the decade. The people of Chad and Cameroon both use Lake Chad. The farmers around the lake use the water for their crops. The divert the water from the lake and use it as irrigation. The fishermen use the lake to fish. The lack of water is straining the fish and the farmers aren't helping by taking water from the lake. Tensions between people have rose because these groups of people have many different views on what should be done with Lake Chad.
Lake VictoriaLake Victoria was discovered in 1858 by John Speke. He named it after Queen Victoria, as he was a British explorer. Lake Victoria covers about 26,600 square miles. It is the largest lake in square miles in Africa. The lake gets most of its water from direct precipitation. Thousands of little streams pour into Lake Victoria. Although, the lake is large, it is a pretty shallow lake. The average depth is about forty meters. Lake Victoria is not really a place for people to go swimming. It is very polluted by raw sewage and by factories. Lake Victoria is surrounded by cities with factories that dump their toxins and sewage into the lake. The fertilizer that farmers put on their crops ends up in the lake, Many invasive plants and animals have also found their way into the lake, causing even more harm.

ResourcesCoco BeansCoco Beans can be made into many different things. The biggest thing that it is made into is chocolate. Coco Beans grow in trees in hot, tropical areas. They grow directly from a large branch or the trunk of the tree, which is unusual for fruits that are grown on trees. Harvesting these beans is about three to four days a week job during harvesting season. Coco Beans mean a lot to the people because it gives them a job to do. It is one of their major out ports because the beans can not be grown everywhere. Coco beans are even traded sometimes. In some parts of the world, the beans are just like any currency that we use in the United States.
RiceRice is a staple food, especially in places such as Asia. In Africa, rice has been grown there for over 3500 years. Rice is used in many different types of foods and in cultures. It effects the people because they grow the rice themselves. They harvest the land and grow the rice.
